Denise Winston, is a 25- year former banker, author, Guinness World Record® Financial Literacy Program creator and presenter as well as a frequent media guest.
Denise founded MSH in 2009 after spending 25-years in the banking industry watching the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and how the banks made their money.
Observing the lack of financial education and the extreme impact it had on people’s lives, their employer’s profitability, the communities they live in and our nation’s economic growth, Winston was compelled to do something about it. Thus, at the peak of the financial crisis, she founded Money Starts Here, LLC.
Over the past 30 years, Denise has developed materials that cover a wide range of financial topics, all to help people avoid costly mistakes and achieve financial wellness. Winston has inspired and empowered millions of people across the nation to take control of their financial lives.
In 2016, due to market demands, she expanded her financial education company to include online courses that help organizations, employers, and their employees deal with the effects of financial stress and the Affordable Care Act mandate.
Through her experience, she’s able to bring quality financial education that produces real results to both the public and private sectors.

Financial Literacy Program
On November 9, 2014, our CEO Denise Winston, presented the financial literacy program she created to secure the “World’s Largest Financial Literacy Education Event” for the Banc of California at the University of Southern California. Nearly 6,000 students received training at the event, which was headlined by former President Bill Clinton and set two Guinness World Records: The Biggest Ever Financial Literacy Training and the Biggest Ever Financial Literacy Training in One Venue.

Aera Energy, LLC is a prime example of what is possible when a business supports their employees and local schools, it changes lives and improves the communities they operate in. The Workplace Financial Wellness Program we provided Area’s employees included a donated talk to a local school, mentor program or charity of their choice, they chose the MS3 Math and Science Academy. Helping students make smart, confident financial decisions before their first paycheck is remarkable and noteworthy!

We are honored to launch My Financial Academy Financial Literacy – Life Skills Program for Kern Housing Authority residents. It is a prime example of how the Housing and Opportunity Foundation of Kern is using grant money to changing lives and drive positive outcomes for the community and beyond.
